The Gold Fund’s objective is to make equity investments in domestic enterprises. Investments will be made in the form of convertible loans, convertible preferred shares, and/or common shares. Transactions will be structured to provide maximum investments protection to investors and above average investment returns. Long-term capital appreciation is the goal of the fund. The fund will invest in enterprises being privatised by government, companies listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) and private domestic enterprises. Investments will be made based on analytically formulated measures. The measures will ensure a diversified portfolio of companies to hedge at-risk exposure.

The Fund is seeking investment opportunities in companies which satisfy one or more of the following measures:

  • Operate in sectors in which the country has recognized competitive advantage (particularly export oriented sectors);
     
  • Profitable growth oriented State Owned Enterprises (SOE) that are on the government’s privatization list;
     
  • Occupy a dominant or influential role in their domestic market;
     
  • Are likely to benefit from a probable increase in infrastructure development and private investment spending;
     
  • Are able to demonstrate attractive levels of returns; and
     
  • Have a management with a successful history and a clear development strategy.
